School of Rock - Special Edition (2003)

Jack Black stars in this musical comedy directed by Richard Linklater. 
Music is guitarist Dewey Finn (Black)'s life. He plays lead guitar in a bar band who aim to win a regional Battle of the Bands competition but his self-indulgent antics lead to him being ousted. 
Desperate for rent money, he impersonates his roommate Ned Schneebly (Mike White), a substitute teacher, and finds himself working at a private school. 
Impressed by the musical talent of his students, he begins teaching them everything he knows about rock and forms a band to enter the Battle of the Bands. 
Meanwhile, he needs to keep Ned, Principal Rosalie Mullins (Joan Cusack) and the parents from discovering what he's up to, because what will happen when the truth comes out?
